I am very pleased and excited by the confirmations and the possibilities for August.

Already Confirmed are:
k.d. lang and Siss Boom Bang will be performing older songs along with new material from her new album, Sing It Loud which she says was written for the Canadian folk festivals. Sure to be a triumphant return, k.d. lang will be singing us out on Sunday evening for our finale.
Joe Louis Walker – With a long and storied career that has included stints with John Lee Hooker, Thelonius Monk, Steve Miller, Jimi Hendrix and others, singer/guitarist Joe Louis Walker has had the opportunity to soak up lots of influences and he will be showing them all off at this year’s festival.
Duke Robillard – Guitarist. Bandleader. Songwriter. Singer. Producer. Session musician. And a one-man cheering section for the blues, in all its forms and permutations – he is a man who is a legend in the blues community.
Angelique Kidjo – Born in Benin (West Africa), Angelique Kidjo is a Grammy award-winning music recording artist deemed “Africa’s premier diva” by Time Magazine.
Guy Clark – Tough, bare-boned and dryly sentimental, his beautiful songs reflect the man himself and displays honesty, integrity within carefully chosen words.
Janiva Magness – Award-winning Blues and R&B vocalist, Janiva Magness, brings us her new CD The Devil is an Angel Too, a hard-hitting collection of material that explores the depths of good and evil, with Magness’ glorious, soul-baring vocals burning their way through twelve powerful songs.
Nanci Griffith – This self styled “Folkabilly” songstress makes her return to Gallagher hill. Nanci is a multi-award winner, including a recent Lifetime Acheivement Award from BBC Radio2’s Folk Awards.
Matt Andersen: a wonderful and engaging acoustic bluesman from New Brunswick.
Delhi 2 Dublin: a band transcending stereotypes and letting the music speak for itself.
Mary Gauthier: always a welcome visitor.
Chris Smither: Amongst the very best.
Brandi Carlile: It is a long time since a relative unknown was such a big hit!
The Once: These Newfoundlanders were double winners at the Canadian Folk Awards.
Garnet Rogers: One of the very best singer/songwriters around.
Kila: A genre expanding Celtic group with world music influences.
All the surveys from this year’s program book have been analyzed. Thanks for prompting us for 2011 improvements:
- All line-ups to be reviewed, especially gate entry and beer tent line-ups;
- Our smoking policy will be reviewed
- The middle video screen will go digital for daylight viewing
- The morning lottery times and locations will be reviewed and improved
- High back chairs will be banned and etiquette will be stressed
- The merch tent will have more stock
- Shade will be addressed
- Sound bleed will decrease dramatically;
