January 2024

Dear Artist,

The 45th annual Edmonton Folk Music Festival takes place the weekend of August 8th to the 11th, 2024. We encourage you to apply to participate in the festival artisan area, open Friday, August 9, Saturday, August 10, and Sunday, August 11.

The artisan selection is a juried process so your application will be evaluated along with all other submissions received. The decisions of the jury are final. Please note that participation in the Artisan Market one year does not guarantee participation in subsequent festivals.

The festival seeks handmade or upcycled work that has been created by the artisan applying. We do not accept manufactured or imported goods. We accept digital applications as well as applications with physical samples.

For digital submissions, we ask that you send images of your work along with your application. Maximum 10 photos, with photos sent as an attachment rather than links.

If you wish to provide physical samples of your work, you should only send a few examples, but please submit samples of all types of work you wish to sell. Samples will be returned after the jury process is complete, as long as self-addressed packaging and postage is provided. Local submissions can be dropped off and picked up in person.

To avoid duplication of similar work, the festival reserves the right to restrict or limit the sale of certain items.

There is no application fee. The booth fee upon acceptance is $400.00 (plus gst) due with a completed contract, date tbd.

PLEASE NOTE – if your submission is accepted the booth fee is non-refundable. In return for your fee, successful applications will be provided the following:

·       Space of approximately 10 x 10 feet under our enclosed craft tent area

·       A table (8’ x 2.5’) and two chairs

·       Two working badges (access for the artist and one assistant)

·       One parking pass for a location near the festival site

·       Overnight storage space in a secured trailer

·       Social media posts highlighting market vendors

·       Artist/Business name and description in the program book, and on our website and app

We require that the artist be in attendance at the festival. We encourage exhibitors to demonstrate their work onsite and we will do what we can to accommodate the needs of those who wish to do so. Booth spaces provided are partitioned within larger tents, and include a ceiling and tent sides. Materials for display, flooring, and weatherproofing are your responsibility. Keep in mind that we are an outdoor event.

The application deadline is Thursday, April 4, 2024 at noon. No late submissions will be accepted. If mailing, please ensure that your submission arrives before the deadline.

There are 3 ways to submit your application:

1. Submit online. For digital applications, please send your completed application with images to
communications@edmontonfolkfest.org. Please attach file in the same email - jpeg or png preferred. Please do not send links to files as the jury members may not be able to access them.

2. Mail your applications. If you are mailing your submission with physical samples, or prefer to print and mail your digital application and photos, please send to:

Edmonton Folk Music Festival
Attention: Muffy McKay/Artisan Market
P.O. Box 4130  Edmonton AB T6E 4T2

If you would like your samples returned, you must provide return postage and packaging. Samples will be returned after the jury in April.

3. Submit in person. If you are dropping off your submission and samples in person, deliver to the festival office at 10115 – 97A Ave. Please call ahead when dropping off submissions to ensure someone is at the office to receive it – please do not leave your submission in the mailbox at our office. Samples must be picked up by May 17, 2024. Items remaining will be donated to charity or used in volunteer giveaways.

If you have any questions regarding the application process, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you,
