Our Musical Philosophy

Our goal is to showcase the best folk, celtic, bluegrass, blues, gospel, and singer-songwriters, that we can book from anywhere in the world.

It's a balancing act. 
We try to blend all these music traditions to offer something for every musical taste and to create interesting main stage line-ups and sessions where diverse styles can be shared.

We strive to achieve the following:

• Examples of folk music from all around the world
• An eclectic mix of familiar favourites, big names and first-time artists

Submissions for the 2027 festival open October 1.

For future consideration, submissions are generally open in the fall from the beginning of October to the end of November.

The Edmonton Folk Music Festival is not primarily a new performer festival, and only a small portion of our acts are booked from unsolicited applications.

What if I want to recommend a performer?

I can't promise to book your favourite artist but this input helps me program the festival. You never know - your discovery might become mine also!
